post 12.

I wonder how it's made?

I have searched the forum and there's no mention of it anywhere.

looks like a simple passive transformer DI. just put a transfo in box and wire it up :) check the DIYRE kit

there appears to be a 9v battery in there as well, so it is probably more than just a transformer.
FET buffer a la Ray Marston and transformer?

Looking at the GS thread the active electronics are potted. The designer appears to be still around but is not about to reveal the schematic. Pity really. Potting is a double edged sword. It was a common way of protecting IPR in those days , However, any electrolytic caps in there are likely on their way out and impossible to replace rendering the unit useless, especially when someone accidentally connects phantom power to it.

Cheers

Ian

Yep, definitely feels a little tragic.

Just to get some sort of discussion going, what are all of the “known” methods of non-tube di boxes?

-passive transformer-based
-active fet-based
-active silicon transistor-based

I am certain I am missing tons of info, so please take this apart.

Thanks,
Mark
