Hi,
As the topic says, anyone of you guys that have tried to shorten a HT-11A body to get your M251 builds to look more like the originals in terms of basket vs body ratio?

On that topic, anyone that has build both the D251 and the matador hybrid 251 that could provide me with measurements of those two Pcbs? Or are they pretty much the same size?

If shorting the body the transformer will need to be placed inside of the "tube" closer to the connector. So would you guys think that it will be a bigger risk of humming and noice? Perhaps a can of some sort for the transformer is then needed?

No and to be honest other than a visual aesthetic I don't see a reason in IMO. It will not change the acoustic properties or electro-mechanical properties in anyway. The head basket, tube, component selection and capsule are the things to most pay attention too for a quality build. This after having used this body for 3 builds of 2 ELA m251's and a C12. All with selected NOS 6072 tubes, Tim Campbells Capsule,  Chungers replacement Head Baskets, Aputis's capsule mount and AMI transformers.

That being said I suppose you can shorten the body tube on the top and modify the rails to meet the new body dimensions!

Yes my reason for doing it is purely  visual aesthetic and nothing else :)

Guess my childhood obssion building plastic airplane and ship models as close to the real deal in turns of accurate look has translated to my audio gear builds haha :)

Ohh thx, have seen those Alctron clones with other "brands" , think is was N-Sonic, but haven't been able to figure out what chinese mic it was.  Thanks for the info!

I reckon it's the chassis used for the Telefunken CU29.

Just a different basket.
