Cheap chinese bench power supplies
« on: October 07, 2018, 01:20:40 PM »
There are various cheap test power supplies on ebay/alibaba e.g:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bench-Variable-Digital-portable-5A-DC-Power-Supply-220V-Precision-Power-Cable/173570427458?hash=item28699a8a42:g:TMEAAOSwpTJbtWg1

Anyone have any experience with them? Are they reliable enough for testing audio gear?
Testing as in 'making sure it works and does not explode', *not* testing performance.

I am surprised they are allowed to sell them. They have no CE marking.

Just having a CE mark doesn't mean much... I have seen chinese built product for the US market with CE mark and no UL  ::)

Caveat emptor.

The cheap chinese stuff is probably copied from something that didn't suck, but be careful. It is possible to get less value than you paid for something, thats how they profit.
