Hi Folks,

I am currently repairing a Dynacord DRP 15. The right effect channel has dropouts and the rest of the signal sounds dull. I found the culprit, it is a component named AL019 with a 25 as suffix. I am not really sure what this guy is doing. One input, one output, +/- 15V powered, possibly an active filter? (see photo)

I found out that this device was manufactured by TDK (Teridian) and was used in Wersi E-pianos, too.
I found a online shop here in Berlin selling AL019 with a 95 suffix for those Wersi organs.

Does anyone have any more information about this component? Whats the meaning of that suffix. Can I use the AL019  with the 95 suffix?

Is there a cheaper source for those AL019s, the guy from Berlin asks for 20€!

Thanks!

Cheers

:)

part of the schematic. U319 (AL019) eats the signal. Sorry for the poor quality.

Looks like a filter. You might be able to use something like this.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Murata-AFL89WB-15-25-kHz-Filter-for-Lexicon-Other-Digital-Audio-Gear-SA/222504265643?hash=item33ce49a7ab:g:zrkAAOSwGJlZELVy:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true

As far as I can tell, this is not strictly a suffix; a true suffix would be connected with a dash, as is BC337-25. This looks more like a batch number. It looks like a custom part, so this reference AL109 should indicate only identical products.

Can I use the AL019  with the 95 suffix?
I would think yes, but of course I can't vouch for it. You may get additional info from the seller in Berlin. Have you tried calling the Dynacord service dept?

Yet it's 5 times cheaper than the Murata part used by Lexicon...

Thanks Doug for confirming that this is an active filter device. Wow, 100$ for a filter! Whats under the hood? Pure gold?  ;)

I got response from the Berlin seller, he says that the "suffix" is in real a production code, he got serveral of them in stock with different numbers. So abbey was right, this is a batch code and I found successfully a spare part for my DRP 15.

Here is a link to the shop for potential seeker in the future. You will find them on ebay, as well.

I will try to de-goop my broken AL109 first, just to see whats under the hood...

PS: I have tried the Dynacord Service Department in the past, no success. It seems, they are not really interested to provide service for their old gear.

Thanks for the link.

I guess it's a thick-film hybrid. You may try to retro-engineer it, so a discrete replacement could be built. Maybe not worth it, I don't know.

Pity...

In this age of throwaway electronics, service departments aint what they used to be! Let us know how you go. Dynacord made some good reverbs.

It's alive! :)

Now I only have to fix the button of the on/off switch, its broken. I will carve a replacement and after some final adjustments this lovely piece of gear will be back in business.

Information for the general setup procedure can be found in the attched Service Manual (english/german)

Very good, where did you get the filter?

I have bought it from psf-technik, see post#5 for the link. Nice guy and the price (~20€) is right if you compare it to the 100$ Murata filter for the Lexicons.  8)
