Looking to experiment in custom cables.  I'm not referring to buying off-the-shelf bulk wire and adding ends but actually a design on the bulk wire itself.

Any ideas?

I remember talking with a guy about his silver wire he had manufactured. I think you just find companies that do this to your needs.. like maybe something like this...

There's a company here in FL that has some fancy custom stuff and, after looking at their website, I could see all of the made in China boxes in the background on the shelves.... I can't remember the company right off hand.....

Back in the 1970's, I worked at a pro audio company and we had Belden make us a custom cable for permanent installations.  It was a single pair, foil shielded with several cool features and had the audio company's name printed down the length of the outer jacket.  But, we had to order 50,000 feet of it at a time IIRC.

custom cables.
Alpha directed me to Cowen Cable for 10,000 feet of 12 gauge twisted pair, tinned, solid core speaker cable.
both firms are now part of Belden.

What are you trying to achieve with your cable design ? To get a true custom cable is big expense and you'll likely have to order kilometres of the stuff.

Well I had some thoughts on how it all should go together.

Foe example Why can't I have the ground in the center and then have 2 X twisted pairs of hot and cold  wrap around the ground center wire followed by a braided or foil shield?

Do you not think firms like Belden do R&D? They have years of experience making cable. Sounds to me like you should just be happy with the huge range of standard cables that are available. Its very unlikely you are going to reinvent the wheel.

Wouldn't that have higher crosstalk than individually shielded pairs?

To what benefit ?

I'd give Redco a call. They sell their own branded cable so they must have a manufacturer and would know some details. Small enough company that you might be able to work something out.
