aviel said:Yes sorry meant the A262A3e. Canford have minimum of 35 euro per order, thats annoying.
I will use it as mic input transformer for a FETboy preamp i am building
Newmarket said:IIRC Canford are fairly strict on 'Business Only' customers ?
ruffrecords said:For a FET input mic pre I would recommend using A187A15C. It has a better spec and is enclosed in a mu metal shield.

aviel said:its X3 the price. i read here in the forum that people like the A262A3E for the FETBOY. unfortunately it is out of stock..
ruffrecords said:And at least 3 times the performance. For a mic input transformer you must have a mu metal shield to minimise the possibility of hum pickup.. For good bass response you need an adequate primary inductance. The A262A3E is about 0.5H. The one I suggested is 10 times that. You might be OK if you only use high output low source impedance condenser mics with it. With a 150 ohm mic though, the A262A3E will have a -3dB point at about 50Hz.

There is a mu metal housing for this transformer, you have to buy it separately. (and yes, you need it) I have used small Beyerdynamics in my build, too. You can find them on ebay sometimes. They are no bass monsters aswell and its good to have the PAD before the transformer with them.
aviel said:yes i realize the metal shield is a must in this case.
couldnt the 50Hz lpf be solved by increasing input impedance??
thanks! just ordered from them.!
ungifted said:If anyone is interested I have in stock Mu Metal cans for the trafo (made by Vigortronix Audio transformers (United Kingdom)). Please note that they have made replicas of the discussed trafo. There was a thread about Vigotronix here...

There's probably more to it. Like who prompted these two old gentlemen.
