v672 gain pot question

HI, I am finishing up with racking my pair of V672 but I have a lame question about the gain pots wired into pins 9 and 10. I have a 250k log pot and I need to put a 2k2 resister in series with it but I'm not exactly sure what that means. would it be between pin 9 and the wiper... output to pin 10 and ground the pot? I know the pot needs to be wired in reverse coz full gain is with the open circuit.

Thanks. Oh I am using 40 ohm input resisters because this will be used with a ribbon mic.
