I chose the old API zener pulldown circuit for bulk of logic which keeps voltage up, dropping load on de-energize. Someone around here suggested this was good for power stability, the trade off being a warmer psu. It allows for 0v cv, which I imagine is better if you got hundreds of em' going every which way.  But normal state off or on? Good question. Only roughly 1 out of 5 are de-energized in a 'no buttons on' scenario in my setup, so if power drops, my pooch is screwed. Still, in this day and age of so much digital equipment, if power's lost there's bigger problems than open relays that present themselves.
