Hi to all

anybody use a computer power supply as cheap Lab-Bench multi voltages Source ?
thanks for post about.

Never used on as a dedicated power supply but have used a couple in the past for powering a little car stereo amp/sub rig and one12v pump I juried up as a spray rig before..... never had any problems...... except when my spray set up hose came off and soaked the supply..... :-[

It still worked after it dried though! Couldn't believe it.....

I’ve seen this done before. It probably works fine but you might want to throw some smoothing caps on it to clean it up. Your results are tied to how clean the supply is and it might not have any short circuit protection.

Personally, I keep an RCRCRC board and a few variable bench supplies laying around. I got 3 CRT oscilloscopes and the two variable supplies for $100. Keep an eye on Craigslist..

No smoothing caps.
