I have a question about my Philips made AKG C60 microphones.
I can’t remember the exact name now but it’s irellevant for my question. They are Phillips branded AKG C60 with cardioid capsules.
There is a HP built into the capsules and I’m curious how that was made? Anyone know more about this? It’s not in the electronics. The HP is still there when I put the caps on my c451 bodies.

I don't see any LF rolloff of the frequency response in the specifications.
http://www.coutant.org/akgc60/
Frequency response is specified as: 20...20000 cps (within 2.5 dB)
Not sure if this is the same capsule however.
Couldn't it simply be a matter of the tensioning of the diaphragm?

Hi Ruud, and thanks for your reply.
No i believe the original AKG capsules are full bandwidth but these Phillips branded ones have a lower bass response. Probably due to they aiming them at a home user market?

I think you have answered my question though. What i wanted to know is how the HP filter is made without any other passive components. Tensioning of the membrane, that sounds fair. So, in theory, reskinning them could make them full bandwidth again?

The Philips version of the AKG C60 is the EL6150/00
Freq resp 30-18000 Hz +/- 2dB
EL6150/00 = condenser mic, preamp + capsule
EL6150/10 = preamplifier
EL6151/00 =  mic capsule
EL6154/00 = supply unit with mains cable and plugs, and can be set for matching 50 200 and 500 Ohm lines.
Low Freq response could be changed by a small adapter, but the datasheet does not tell where, probably same as on the C60, on the supply.
(Bass cut filter 0, -7 or -12 dB@50Hz)
But they could also be fitted with CK28 and CK26 akg capsules.
Cheers, Erik
