Hi there, I have a dbx 165A that is holding onto the sidechain when release is maximized. Feeding a signal will continue to pump the GR until it's pinned. The threshold lights will also be pinned to "above'' -- I think because the 165A has an "over-easy" design (soft-knee) which has the GR interacting with the threshold indication, so it's not just a straightforward over/under indicator.

The obvious workaround is to just not use the unit with release maxed out. However, I was thinking this probably was not by design and maybe some component or other is starting to go. I can't quite make sense of the side chain circuit from the schematic (attached)... much more complex than a 176 or other vari-mu type  ;D

Any suggestions?

Check that the release pot is working when turned all the way.  Maybe the wiper is losing contact.

Could it be out of calibration? Trimmer R93 calibrates the sidechain
See section 14 in the calibration procedure doc
