Most audio converters use Sigma/Delta conversion which, by essence don't pass DC. Removing capacitors in the signal path won't change a thing.

Yes...I have in mind the DAC, not the ADC, my bad

The 404 USB is quite rare actually. The review in Sound On Sound indicates that the frequency response is not consistent with the increase of SR. At 96kHzSR, it's only 37kHz, so I doubt it excesses 50kHz at 192k.
The EMU USB models can extend to over 90kHz -3dB response - eg. see Virtins test report:
https://virtins.com/doc/D1007/EMU_0204_Report.pdf

In simple loopback form with 100:1 probe I get a raw -1dB at 50kHz and rolling off to -3dB at 95kHz, which I can then 'equalise/normalise' to 0dB across that entire spectrum in REW if needed.

I had the Virtins demo installed in my previous computer.
I think I'll investigate it again.
I didn't have a good soundcard so I couldn't really evaluate it and I must admit I had forgotten about it.
Thanks for reminding me.
It seems that Virtins makes the best of the hardware.
