So I put an order in through the site a week ago, still not been dispatched. Contacted them/him 3 times through email and the site form. Not heard anything back.

Are they usually this shit or is this an exception?

Quite annoyed as I have a week off this week so was planning on getting this project finished while I actually have some time. What's the point in having an option for "2-3 day shipping" if you don't bother to send it for over a week!

I buy quite a bit from them but I have never been in a particular hurry to get the items. There is often a noticeable delay between placing an order and the items being shipped but I don't think it has ever been longer than a week.

Cheers

Ian

Thanks for the reply. Fingers crossed it's will be on its way soon then! Do you get any communication from them, answers to questions etc?

I had to send 3-4 emails over a period of time in order to get an answer for a very simple question regarding one of their products. I have never actually bought anything from them though, so I can't comment on the shipping time.

Same experience here.

Regarding the relatively high prices compared to other sources i think this is a no go..
Since that i successfully avoided ordering there.

So which things in particular do you find expensive?

Cheers

Ian

I bought many items from Aaron Don Audio in the past and never had an issue.

Expensive? I don't think so. He sells high quality components (Elma, Daka-ware knobs, Lundahl transformers, etc), not cheap pots

Well i compared prices from time to time and everywhere i looked it was cheaper..

just to give a few examples (incl. VAT):

Marconi Style knobs (https://www.don-audio.com/Black-Marconi-style-Knob-skirted-2-x-Set-screw-1-4-Shaft-hole - Special Price already !!  ::))
5,90 € compared to the exact same knob 1,60 € (https://www.musikding.de/Marconi-style-black)

Black Bakelite Chickenhead style (https://www.don-audio.com/Bakelite-Chicken-Head-Knob-1104-black):
3,40 € compared to the exact same knob 0.52€ (http://diy-tubes.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_29&product_id=264) or 0,70€ ( https://www.musikding.de/Chickenhead-black)

ON/OFF Spare Knob for EQP-1A Equalizer (https://www.don-audio.com/Black-Pointer-Knob-EQP-1A-ON-OFF):
7,13 € compared to the exact same knob 0,90 € (https://www.musikding.de/Beaked-knob-brown-17mm)

57mm VU Meter (https://www.don-audio.com/Vintage-Meters-VU-Meter-VM2103)
49,95 € compared to the exact same meter 33.93€ (http://diy-tubes.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_71&product_id=546)

G-SSL frontpanel (https://www.don-audio.com/G-SSL-Frontpanel-Standard):
51,03 € compared to the exact same panel: 42,88€ (https://www.frontpanels.de/miscellaneous-frontpanels/gyraf-g-ssl-1/)

Ribbed knob 24mm (https://www.don-audio.com/Daka-Ware-Instrument-Control-Knob-1150-Black)
2,57 € compared to the exact same knob  €0,77 (http://www.banzaimusic.com/Ribbed-knob-Ribby-24.html)

I mean... this is an obivous difference, isn't it?

Now i don't have to mention that you can get it even cheaper when you check on ebay or chinese sellers (as most of these products come from china obviously). I know it is human nature to gain some money out of things, but that much  ???

Just my thoughts..

Have seen the freight charges Edcor make to send transformers to Europe?

Cheers

Ian

There is also some value in not having to wait 6-8 weeks.

For what its worth,. Edcors shipping is VERY expensive in the USA too.

Whenever I search any Lundahl transformer, Google usually presents a Don-Audio link. Just a couple examples:

LL1922:          DA: 146,87 €        Jacmusic: 99,27 €
LL1676:          DA: 163,59 €        Jacmusic: 128,28 €
LL1690:          DA: 163,60 €        Jacmusic: 128,28 €

I'm sure there are also more reasonably priced items, but some really stick out. Might all be part of a selling strategy of course: lure them in with a couple of cheaper parts, hope they will buy the more expensive stuff with it.

am i wrong or Don A. is located in Spain ?
any ship is normally fast if is inside same country

the problems start as the ship is international

if not made with much expensive option like fedex , ups & co…

probably also they work in "backorder" mode

with lite number of products available in stock for many reasons
cheers

No it's a german family owned company.
And yes the ordering procedure seems to take pretty long

I’ve ordered many times from Aaron and never had any issue.
He also respond most of the time within hours or one day to my emails.
Also the shipping never took longer then one day after placing my order.
Yes, some parts at his store are really expensive and you get it much cheaper, but I mostly use his store for special things you don’t get that easy.
I can recommend Don-Audio.

What email address did you use to contact him? Like I said, I've tried the website forms twice and emailed info@ but not had a response from any of them. (First message was sent about 2 weeks ago)

Its been over a week now and order still hasn't been shipped, I don't mind a delay, I understand things happen but the complete lack of any communication is what gets me.

As far as I know Don Audio is located in Germany

So, an update (in case anyone finds this in a search etc):

Eventually got a reply via the [email protected]. he said the wait was due to a couple of capacitors not being in stock. He sent everything else the same day and it arrived 3 days later, well packaged and complete.
I'm happy with the quality of the products and I've exchanged a few more emails that have been answered promptly and he's been very helpful with my questions.  The capacitors followed a few days later too
