And now I see.  I'm not familiar with steel players, but he's got a great style.

That kind of switching between different-styled instruments like that looks inherently hard.  The "cheatin'" way to do it is to have a musical pause or have another instrumentalist play a bar or two while you switch. It'll be interesting to see after he gets better at it, and maybe a few more mods on that guitar thing to make for faster switching.

well,  jr.'s first design that he has played for ever is basically a double neck with tele on one and steel without pedals on the other....

Jr is awesome at this with the original git steel.  I remember seeing him at a bluegrass festival at a collage in Wilksboro,, NC.  He’s mesmerizing when he plays.  Great sense of humor in his lyrics.    Wonderful Musician! Does the Earnest Tubb thing.  Actual country music from the 40s-50s.
 
Modern lyrical topics sung over timeless old country.  Not a bad way to guard the flame.

Someone get that man a cranial implant that sends actuator cv over wifi.  =D
