Blue Ember

Has anyone purchased a Blue Ember?

I’m curious about the mic’s potential considering the $99 price tag. If it’s any good, it might be fantastic on drums as a condenser alternative, and for $99, I wouldn’t be sad when the drummer inevitably destroys it. The side-address profile also lends itself to this purpose.

I haven’t found any information online confirming whether or not it is a true condenser design. It may also have some DIY potential.

Has anybody had any experience with the mic?

I'd be veeeeeery surprised if it wasn't an electret, if i'm honest - not at that price, anyway.

Tons of other good donor mics in the $100 or less price range. Hell, I'd say you're probably better off just using the stock iSK BM-600.

+ 1 for the Alctron MC410  -- best 'bang for your buck' that I've found in a commercial mic so far....
