and others that would be too expensive for me to buy in advance (transformers, inductors).

The transformers you used are from Cinemag (transformers) andfrom Audiomaintenance (inductors)?

If so it's pretty easy for a builder to buy them separately

the input transformer I from Sowter, and the output transformer is EA2623 that I purchase from Capigear.
Although I've read that Cinemag has an 1:10 input transformer that fits perfectly this preamp, unfortunately it lacks the 1:1 tap. Having the 1:1 tap is useful for line signals that eventually you want to send to the unit. This is the switch named PAD that you can see on the front panel-
Regarding the output transformer, its a 1:2/1:1 transformer that I use in 1:2. I believe Cinemag has some 1:2 output transformers so, as far as the size of the body and the position of the holes is the same as EA2623, you can use this int the unit.
The tricky bit is that the Grayhill 2 decks switch is in backorder in many sites (mouser, Digi-Key ) and the time of delivery is very long. unfortunately there's no way to avoid this switch.

So at the moment,
input tx from Sowter (Europe) - you can also source input transformers from Cyril Jones/Raindirk, he sells Lustraphone exact Clone transformers

http://www.raindirk.com/lustraphoneTransformersRaindirkAudio.php

output transformer EA2623 from Capi (US) , many other options also for this application.

Probably people from Europe would prefer to source the In and out transformers and the inductors all from European sources.
And the US build from US sources.

How about the source for the inductors you're using?

I wrote an email to Cyril Jones from its website about the lustraphone tx but he never answered so I went for Sowter's. Also, from what I have seen in pictures, the Cyril jones transformer is taller than Sowter's so I believe the it would not fit in the module, space is very tight.
About inductors: they are carnhill VTB9042 and VTB9043

So some European sources for the transformers and inductors

INPUT TRANSFORMER

- From Sowter UK
https://www.sowter.co.uk/

- From Raindirk (possibly if Cyril replies, I bought some transformers from him in the past, didn't have any problems)
http://www.raindirk.com/lustraphoneTransformersRaindirkAudio.php

OUTPUT TRANSFORMER

- TR2623 transformer from ADVaudio (Russia)
http://www.avdaudio.com/catalog.htm?id=1366

- probably many other choices for the output transformer

INDUCTORS

- Carnhill - from Audiomaintenance UK
http://www.audiomaintenance.com/

AVDAUDIO 2623 transformer sound great....

Yes, that is possible to use too.

about Cyril Jones' transformer I'd ask dimensions before order it because I'm not sure it will fit

Thanks Whoops, that would be helpful. I was also under the impression they were too big to drop in for a 500 series module, but it would be great to have confirmation one way or the other.

Paolo - great work here!

I can measure mine when I get back to the workshop.
Probably some creativity is needed to make it fit.

Nope, they're not to big for a 500 series module.
This transformer, contrary to the Sowter one, is made with the same Specs as the original Lustraphone transformer.

Whoops, that module in the picture is not a 500 series module, it is wider, 40mm or more.

Thanks for the info Pahstah.

I will take the measurements and will let you know in case it's useful.

The transformer is not to thick, as far as I remember it would fit a 500 series module

Hi,

I have updated the first post of the thread with Mouser carts for components and links to transformers and inductors.
this should give you an idea of the total expenses for components.
I will soon post what the cost would be for the kit.

Paolo
