Electronically Balanced front end for 2520?

I feel like saw this somewhere at some point. I just went through dozens of pages as well as google searches and wasn’t able to find much at all. Speaking of some kind of a 2520-based mic or line amp but without the transformers. Curious if -

A) Maybe I imagined it?

B) Anyone has ever used either a balanced receiver or differential amp to provide that front end step-up and how it worked.

C) There are any projects of this nature here on groupdiy

found in the API 2520 application notes.

somewhat similar input configuration in API 528 and 544 input modules,
though with an output transformer.

The CAPI VC528 and LC53A are both electronically balanced with the 2520
