Jim Williams RIP was well respected.

This follows in the tradition of the old National Semiconductor ANs from the 70s...

Different Jim Williams.  This Jim was an analogue engineer who worked for and wrote many of the application notes for Linear Technology.  Besides the applications for Linear, there are several books he wrote which are great additions to the library.

No,  the Jim Williams I was referring to is a well respected analog design engineer who authored several books, numerous technical articles, and application notes (he died in 2011).  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Williams_(analog_designer)

You are thinking of a different guy who is better known for hot-rodding other people's designs, still active on Gearslutz last I checked.  Also well respected but by a different audience.

What I find ironic is that another great Analog legend, Bob Pease, died on his way back from Jim William's funeral. Bob Pease also wrote a book on how Not to get into car accidents, yet he died by crashing his car, I believe he wasn't wearing his seat belt. Again, talking about irony....

I always liked  AN25 - Switching Regulators for Poets: A Gentle Guide for the Trepidatious https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/application-notes/an25fa.pdf fun if you play occasionally with smps toys. Analog has some 20 pages of links with his name mentioned https://www.analog.com/en/search.html?q=jim%20williams

Great stuff,

Bob P left behind a treasure trove of artifacts that they have no idea what to do with. Would be fascinating to dig through.
