Yeah I haven't looked around at monitor controllers for a bit. It actually reminded me of gyraf mentioning using a dim switch as a quick  way of attenuating a while back....... I'm guessing this is along those lines apart from all the other features ??
 
Actually it's pretty hard to design a monitor controller, as it always runs off with feature creep, i.e. easy-to-implement and often-wanted features keep piling up until the point where the project dies under its own weight.. Been there twice already actually..  ::)

Dim feature is often found in big dog console master sections.
