looks to be nothing more then a transformer to go between your microphone and your mic pre... of course I could be way off there as they claim a 26dB boost in signal and it draws 5mA of 4pohantom to run it.  any  ideas on this other then a fet booster?

I would not think it is a  fet
Read the write-up it is designed for dynamics and has a higher than single  fet mA draw.

You can find an inside picture on the web it does not show the circuit but it gives a clue to the size of the circuit

I would guess it is based on a circuit(s) from books etc.  from the 50's or 60's

I would GUESS something like figure 4 with a EF driving a transformer.
If you search for preamps you will find schematics something like this. It could be adjusted for the mA draw and powered from phantom

It's completely open to conjecture; could be anything, BJT, FET, opamp, even subminiature vacuum tube. I just don't want to guess, I don't want to break the magic spell.  ;)

Since they mention a magic transformer, I would think there is some iron and copper.
