Hand Building VEAM / Large Multipin Live Snakes

Am I crazy for considering building my own large multipin / multi channel for a live stage setup?

Seems like all the premade ones are very expensive, has anyone here tried their hand at building their own? any recommended tups or suppliers for the multipin?

I've built thousands of cables and hand soldered TT to barewire patchbays, handbuilt tons of DB25.

why buy when you can build? saves money too. no real reason not to build unless it's not worth your time.

To do it properly either way is expensive. You are trading putting in your time vs a supplier putting in labor and some profit.
If your time is cheap then you will save money. But there is always a price for your time...

I used to be technical director at a fairly large company in the states that is known for making these types of things.

I LOVE SOLDERING.

I would not want to have to solder any sort of VEAM or MASS multi-pin. That would test my patience!
