You really can't blame the government for spam. It's international, with the big spam senders in dubious countries. Or the spam is coming from accounts paid for with stolen CC or cracked.

Your government could do something about robo calling though. Doesn't exist in the rest of the world. The ITU has been trying to fix it, but the USA is blocking all efforts.

Makes you wonder why. Is it because robo calling is considered essential during elections?

Oddly the do not call list legislation offers an exemption for political polls, that are often veiled advertisements asking leading questions, to manipulate sentiment (do you still beat your wife?).

Most of the undesirable robo calls originate from smaller offshore phone systems making them harder to regulate, but these seem like easily identifiable calling patterns that could be isolated from normal network traffic. The politicians of course have mixed allegiances when it comes to things that help them get re-elected.

Term limits might make politicians a little more honest, but that would transfer more power to unelected staff.

According to Ronald Reagan the nine most terrifying words in the english language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'

That's not new. In the 1980s I filled out a card application with a wrong middle initial, "K". And we got a car-magazine subscription in the name of the car, Christine.

I still get paper mail for "K". And while Christine was melted down long ago, we had paper mail for her in 2013.

Sounds like the  government run health service website could be facilitating the insurance industry to spy on their clients , this all co-incided with a 'clean up' of the social welfare system here ,where many many people were either deemed no longer fit for work or offered the option to take  sickness benefit instead , its made the unemployment figures look amazing  , but its bust the already bust healthcare system beyond repair , anyone now can simply state their suffering  'Social(media related )Anxiety'  ,take the pills and the money , and never work a day again in their life . Meanwhile people with a completely different expectation of what a weeks work is are taking over the jobs ,someone from Bangladesh is very happy indeed to do 50 hours a week on minimum wage here , they may have had to work 70-80 hours just to survive back home.
