Well, they got my bank card again.... bank called me about odd purchases to the tune of 94 dollars. It was all from the same place iTunes. I never purchased an iTunes anything before and that combined with some 20 odd purchases within a day of different amounts had my bank curious. Good on them for catching it so quickly, was in a matter of hours from when purchases showed up vs when I got the call from my bank.
 
Pucho.....was that done on a new/reissued card?  If so, watch out for "skimmers" at the self-serve gas pumps, etc.  Even here in "fly-over country" skimmers keep appearing on gas pumps .  I always inspect/wiggle the pump scanners....but more often go inside to pay.

No, this was on a card soon to expire, it did have the chip tech. My replacement card has no embossed numbers on it.  it's odd it looks fake  but it is not. Apparently the new card has tap tech so I can just tap it on specific registers and it will do a payment. What will they think of next :eek:

I do owe credit to my bank for catching it right away and alerting me.  The big tip off was I-tunes and multiple payments buying things for some game.  Not me.  oh well. 
 
I am just now getting back to normal after my CC# was compromised several months ago.

The CC provider detected fraud and cancelled/re-issued my card, but only later did I discover a number of fraudulent charges that they reversed "after" I notified them... There may have been more small ones I didn't catch but I found an obvious series of large fraudulent charges adding up to hundreds of dollars.

My FICO score got dinged for bill non-payment when I didn't update every one of my auto pay accounts to the new card # fast enough.  :eek:

My FICO score just recovered this month to pre fraud levels (not that I borrow money these days).

+1 the CC providers are usually on the case to prevent fraud, but stealing/reselling card numbers is a huge criminal activity.

So is mine. I guess that's the new norm. After all, why did we need raised letters? Anti-tamper, but mainly for taking an impression on carbon-paper, "click-clack machine". When was the last time you saw one of those?

Blank cards are a buck apiece in 10-packs. With mag stripe. Mag-stripe read/writers next to that.

I was around when those machines were the thing.  Obviously not needed any more,  but just looking at the card, it looks no different then when they mail you a fake card along side a letter with offers of low rates and other things if you get their card.

Yeah...They've  become pretty popular here and have been growing.

Nice stores with pretty good subs and sandwiches made on the spot....

I know the one closest to me had some issues with skimmers not too long ago......

I don't hardly ever visit them but it's been my wife's only spot for gas......

Wawa is massive around Philadelphia, and scattered through Fla. Where I was in NJ they were THE convenience store. (However their store locator is really stupid: won't search past 20 miles.)

I had a couple of weeks free from viagra adds , I'm back to spam slop out again on a daily basis ,  ::)
