The insulation between the two may break down. This will increase leakage between heaters and cathode. At a minimum it will induce hum into the cathode, at worst it could lead to a heater cathode short.

..plus (in my experience) you tend to get tubes dying too early of microphonics if you run them too hard in this regard..
