Recently bought a second hand PCM 70 and I have some problems with the output. I only get the left side to output sound and only when cables are plugged both to L and R outputs. This happens whenever the unit is in bypass or not.

The manual says that when only one of the two outputs is connected signals are summed, but in my case I need both cables to get sound out of it. Sounds like bad connector, but I don't know. Anyone had this problem before?

I checked different cables, bal and unbal, and always same behaviour. Service manual attached.

If you have a scope, or even just a small speaker u could probe around the outputs to see where the signal dies? Do you have the circuit?

After digging a bit into the schematic I think it might be Q1 that's shorting signal to ground, ethier because it's blown or because its recieving voltage when it shouldn't. I'll test later.
