All for only 55 dollars!?  Im tempted to buy one and build a U87 clone...anyone ever try these out?  They look almost exactly the same, headbasket shape and all.

Doh!  Good eye!  I got so excited about the basket shape and size and dimensions that I didn’t even think about that.

I don’t really have a need for roll off of pad, nor multi directional patterns...so it’s not a bad thing for me.

Headbasket shape and grille design seems to be dead on compared to Neumann’s patented design.  I read somewhere that it has a significant effect on the sound.

I don't think there's any reason not to make a DIY mic multipattern since multipattern capsules seem to cost the same. Especially when it's a U87 build.

Two sizes available from here : https://www.wgtcenter.com/microphone-accessories/shell/diy-accessories-for-u87-microphone-condenser-classic-neumann-vintage-body.html
Still no switches though... :(

No? Why? They're very useful and occasionally come in very handy.

Well I don’t require them because both my interface and mic preamps have a pad and 80hz roll off.  The multipattern isn’t a deal breaker for me, because I don’t really record any sources that require Omni or bi directional microphones.  I just do vocals mainly.

Think twice before ordering from wgtcenter...  :(
They keep making mistake after mistake!
I once ordered two microphone bodies, but they were delivered without headbaskets.
Their reaction: "the headbaskets are out of stock".  (End of discussion)
And recently I ordered two double sided K67-style capsules.
But... they have sent me two single sided ones.
When I complained about this, they offered me a 50% refund, but of course I am not willing to pay $50 for something that I did not order and can not use...

Yes -  I too have had mistakes from WGTcenter  (wrong capsules delivered) -- although as I had ordered through their Ebay shop I had no trouble with refunds...

Same here, i ordered a K87 dual sided capsule, and they sent me a K47 single sided...they reshipped the K87, and told me to just keep the K47....lol.  So I got two capsules for the price of 1.  Still...it felt like forever before I received the correct capsule.  Theres a small dimple on one side, but I figure I just use the other side and stop dealing with them.

I bought a pair of these stellar labs cm2400 on ebay for $50 each.  They are smaller than a real u87, but the regular poctop pcb will fit.

I haven’t figured out the switch pcb yet - probably going to try and etch one to work.

The metal mesh isn’t as nice as a real u87, but it’s three layer.  The body is sturdy and I think is similar to the syt-500.

My guess is it's the same as the BM-600. Not a bad body (I'd replace the grille if there's one that fits, a lot of give to that grille), and the internals are quite good as is, except the unbiased FET, and the high end EQ capacitor (because of the unbiased FET), and possibly the transformer.

That's a steal though, the iSK version is $100 each.

Did the Stellar Labs version come with the film caps?
