In all schematics I see a maximum of 1000pF / 1nF (Schoeps, Gefell, etc.) for the coupling cap (from capsule). Neumann occasionally used lower values, such as 470pf (U87i).

What is the maximum value that is still reasonable in this position? I know that Peluso occasionally went with 1,5nF. Any drawbacks of that? What's the impact of the different values on sound?

As a rule of thumb: the coupling capacitor should be 10x the capsule capacity, or more.
(Neumann even uses 10nF to couple the rear and front membranes in the U67!)
