Hey everyone,

I have a Sennheiser 8020 sounds and  functions alright but has pretty low output. The guy I got it from said it's about 15 dB more quiet than his usual 8000 series ones.

So I'd like to see if I can repair it but there doesn't seem to be any schematic floating around. Does anyone here happen to have one? Or better yet a service manual that details how to open the little bugger, since there are slots but no visible screws?

Or maybe one of you has experience repairing one of the 8000s series mics and can share some insight, I'd really appreciate that.

Hey again,

I've had the mic in the drawer for some time and finally decided to get back to it again. Does anyone happen to have any info on how to unscrew this threaded insert inside of the capsule's/amplifier's housing?

It doesn't seem like it wants to move when I try to rotate it with some pliers. Am I missing something?

I've attached two pictures where you can see how the insert looks.
