I have down loaded the recording of the 3rd night from here:

The word superb comes to mind, bearing in mind that the Royal Albert Hall is cavernous with pa cabinets hanging from the ceiling. One can only speculate what equipment was smuggled in to record it. Possibly those binaural mics which one can fix to glasses and either DAT or minidisc. Apart from that, the playing is by then loosening up nicely, the first night's recording sound a little stiff, and just now and then an Eric Clapton in his 20s can be heard!!!
Do have a listen, best on Real Player.

Claptons Belfast show at the end of April 2004 was recorded.
(cos they were on the Radio!)
Freeview > RCA > JB3

Freeview digital satalite box, connected to an RCA cable, connected to a Nomad Jukebox 3 hard drive recorder at 44.1kHz wav.

According to the original posting of the 05/05/05 Cream boot, the chain was:

Audience Recording: Core Sound Binaural Mics>Solid-State Recorder(16bit, 44.1kHz WAV)>HD>Adobe Audition>WAV>FLAC Frontend>FLAC (Level-5)

Core Sound is in lovely Teaneck, New Jersey.

I have to agree that this is one of the better audience boots I've heard in terms of sound quality.

Yes, that hall is really cavernous. I was last there in 2001, and luckily we sat right under a bank of speakers so my DAT recording was not too echoey. Trouble is, my Sony D7 will not rewind anymore - error 40 I think it says, and Sony UK want £300 to repair it!!

Thanks for the pointer to the equipment chain, I completely missed it.
Here's a picture of the building from the outside
