Hello,

Can someone help me find the specifications for the input transformers in Jacob’s ver of the mp1a.
I will most likely try to wind it myself, so any details are welcome.

Transformers were custom made by Tradania for those, and not available for the masses - perhaps try something like 1:7 or 1:10, this is a common range for interfacing to tube grid inputs..

But please remember that this is a unit that is still in production (!!)

Winding your own could be a serious challenge. As Kakob says, a 1:7 or 1:10 ratio is typical for tube mic pre input transformers. You should aim for the primary inductance at 100Hz to be about 5H for good bass response. You will need pretty fine wire for the secondary and to achieve the inductances required and to minimise distortion you will need a mu metal core. Also you will need electrostatic screens between the primary and secondary. Good luck!

Cheers

Ian
