Someone cut the leads too short on this A9J...any ideas? Thanks!

the bottom piece including the threaded bushing is pressed in, sometimes becomes  loose unintentionally.
hold the the top cylinder, install a long piece of 3/8" threaded rod with a coupler onto the stud, and wiggle it loose.
3/8" X 32 threaded rod can be found at hardware stores that sell table lamp parts.
 
That looks like plenty of wire to me too.  Like Doug said, splice it.

Now these were cut too short.  Note the one in front where I cut off the threaded part to get enough wire to splice to.

You accidentally grinded through the insulation of the cables  :-[

Well spotted!  I had some plastic tubing over the wires to try to protect them, but it was not enough.  Will try to find metal for the other three.  I believe I can splice and heatshrink the ones that I nicked.
