doing a quick take down on this while i am writing up the LS-51,

some folks like the sound of this guy, we have one in the shop for repair,

has some nice Toshiba transistors and a Fet,

looks like this, inductor visible on PC board>

here is the circuit, supposedly a lot like the Vox circuit,

taken from a thread at

this is a metric lam since this was made in Japan.

it is vey close to a EI 185, the tongue is a bit longer, one of the lams is seen next to the actual size drawing at the top right of this catalog sheet, it is a square stack lapped in three sections to handle DC.

here is an inductance vs voltage graph at 100 Hz,

usually we use 20 Hz for this test for audio transformers to get an idea about bass response, but since this is for guitar we used a frequency close to the  A string on the guitar.

a butt stacked core would have a flatter curve, but since this core was stacked in a semi gapped fashion, we have a different curve.

most people think this is a 500 milli-Henry inductor but it looks a bit higher than that, maybe they spec the inductor at 1 KC.

Thanks CJ

This looks like a fun wind and something to try in a wha.
I have adjusted a number of them over the years but I never used a EI core.

took some voltage measurements and put a junction dot at the two 470K resistors that was missing from this schematic,

that EI core will have a less linear inductance curve than a pot core, so the resonant characteristcis will be different depending on frequency and level.

maybe a pot core would make the Ibanez peddle better.
