Should the capsule be isolated?
« on: July 12, 2020, 06:02:56 AM »
I'm in the process of designing a chassis, capsule holder etc for a microphone. The microphone is based on a circuit i found on this side will building some diy power supply. The circuit's schematic is posted in a thread called Official C12 Clone - Build and Support Thread. I have a question regarding the capsule. Should it be isolated or connected to the chassis ground?

Im told my circuits are ground breaking...

Most likely isolated - depending on the design, the backplate might have some bias voltage applied to it, or it may even be used as the signal source, connected directly to the JFET gate / tube grid.

IIRC Rossi or maybe someone else had a good thread about a conductive mount issue
