My web site is hosted by Google Sites because it is very cost effective. I pay a separate company for the URL and it is redirected to the Google Sites site automagially. I have what Google calls a 'Classic' site and they emailed me recently to say all such sites will be automatically migrated to their new simpler format at the end of this month or I can migrate voluntarily before then. They make it relatively easy. You can create a test site in the new format which is converted from your old web site. I did this - it looks a bit boring but it works. So I decided to do  a few tweaks and publish in the new format. I elected to keep the Google URL the same (https://sites.google.com/site/customtubeconsoles) so it would not beak the link to www.customtubesconsoles.com.

Guess what. It broke the link. I now have to go through the verification process to prove www.customtubeconsoles belongs to me all over again and is frustratingly difficult to get right. So in the interim my web site has disappeared off the face of the earth.

Cheers

f**k Alphabet, but that's just me. gmail has blacklisted my email address for no apparent reason. so my email to gmailers (most of my family and friends) goes in their spam folder. Even when they whitelist me, it reverts back.

And they just have too much data.

Heres an interesting article about privacy or the lack of it relating to the online giants and how that may change in the near future. Theres been in inevitable conflict of interest between politics /big business and the public interest.

I think I fixed the link problem. Can someone go to www.customtubeconsoles.com and let me know if my web site appears.

Here and now, the DNS record for customtubeconsoles.com points to 213.171.218.133

213.171.218.133 is FastHosts.uk. Not Google, I presume?

It looks like you need to talk to the people who manage your DNS. Either FastHosts, or Tucows.

I got a 404. Maybe the new DNS settings are still propagating? That would be very slow, but it is possible. See:

https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/customtubeconsoles.com

However, the DNS for www.customtubeconsoles.com points to several different ip's, most beloning to Google.

https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/www.customtubeconsoles.com

Seems like only the www. subdomain points to Google. Not good.

Yes, Fasthosts. That's who I pay for the domain name and I add a cname record (I think) to point it to the google sites hosted site

I did all this several years ago when I first moved to Google sites. It eventually worked. Now google has forced me to convert it to their new simpler version and I have to go through the process again. Maybe the dns propagation is a major factor.

I think I fixed it. I ASSumed when I published the new site that it would be visible to anyone. Turns out the default published state of a google site is only the owner can see it???? No what I think of as publishing. Anyway, you have to delve down a few menu levels of the sharing icon to find the option where you can actually set it to Public (which is what I would have thought publishing makes it - there's a clue in the word).

Anyway I would be grateful if a few of you could check out you can now see www.customtubeconsoles.com please.

That is odd. I will look into that.

As you may have seen in my other posts ,I didnt click 'I agree' to Googles cookies so far , that may have something to do with what Im seeing or not seeing as the case may be. I appear to be able to still view music vids without agreeing to the subconcious mind rape that is Googles advertising machine. By  calling the tune on duck duck search , then it allows playback without entering Youtube proper.
No Youtube selecting or force feeding you tunes is a plus , chance of discovering random interesting music by  suggestion/osmosis is also reduced, is a negative .I can live with calling the tune without getting adds TVM Google, you manipulated people into uploading content without permission and profited from it ,'Dont be evil' 'Do no harm' thats a joke , rob the poor and give to the rich is more like what they do .
