If it uses a simliar system as the old 565SD mic, then it is a reed switch that shorts the primary of the transformer.
 
Sorry Whoops, you are wrong. That link does  show the switch on page 3, and is clearly labled for the SM58S.
Same as the old 565SD as I mentioned earlier.

Although I don't understand what that is...

I can only guess than in Mute/off position it shorts green and yellow the 2 signal wires

Aha, now I get it. The big thing on the left is the switch. I mistook it for the capsule. Badly drawn IMHO. But thanks for pointing it out. The coded terminal bit is actually the connections to the capsule.
