https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/11/australia-terminates-university-of-queensland-vaccine-deal-with-csl-after-false-positives-for-hiv

"Trial participants were advised of the possibility that vaccine-induced HIV antibodies might be detected as a result, but it was nonetheless unexpected. Subsequent HIV tests provided definitive negative results in the trial participants.

While the HIV tests were false positives and there was no risk to the trial participants, significant changes would need to be made to well-established HIV testing procedures to accommodate rollout of this vaccine, the researchers said. The Phase 1 trial will continue, where further analysis of the data will show how long the antibodies persist."

I read about this, UQ is my alma mater. All because of a protein structure (from HIV) that was used to improve recognition. One down I guess.

A couple decades ago my local blood bank refused my blood donations because of some blood test markers for Hep C (nonAB?), or something like that. Of course I went to my real doctor and got a full blood work up. Of course I didn't have hepatitis, but I suspect the blood markers came from a booster shot I was given by the company nurse before business travel to Europe.

on topic about the new vaccine they are already sticking people in the UK and reportedly a few have experienced anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions). So just like they say in the TV ads, don't take these if you are allergic to them.  ::)

The small number of bad reaction reports suggests it will be well tolerated by the general public. Do not be fearful.

...not to forget that both of those two people had a long history of strong allergies.

Anyway, there's a reason why doctors don't give vaccine shots to a person who shows even the slightest signs of the generic cold. Adversely, the fact that those two people reacted that strongly also indicates that the vaccine does what it is supposed to do: trigger an immuno-response. Besides that any vaccine -- including those against typhus, hepatitis etc -- can trigger overreactions.

There are supply chain issues with the mRNA vaccines that will slow production. They use the same supply chain as some of the test kits (and those were already slowed). It may be sometime in the 2021 Summer before a large percentage of the US or EU population will receive the vaccines. By then the side effects problems should be sorted out

non toxic proteins of the C-19 virus are generated in the test tube, when introduced into the body, T cells are triggered into action,  this process is stored biologically, thus creating an attack response if exposed to the real virus which also contains the "decoy" protein.

unfortunately, the enzymes of said protein are fragile, and must be kept very cold in order to prevent damage.

it is a long and painstaking process to figure out what the exact safe temp is for storage, thus Phizer is playing it safe by keeping the vaccine very cold. Moderna has obviously done more experiments on what the safe temp for storage is, or, they have developed a biological "coating"' for the enzyme that makes it less fragile, and thus, able to be stored at a higher temp. All this knowledge is top secret of course, as their is billions of dollars to be made, so it is hard to know what exactly is going on inside those vaccines without an electron microscope. This is one reason that law enforcement has been hired to escort the vaccine safely. Note that vaccine was produced and distributed to Africa during one of their many pandemics, this vaccine had the same low temp requirements and distribution was done without a hitch.

A lot of this technology was pioneered for treating previous different outbreaks (like in Africa) but lacking the cash cow money pot at the end of the rainbow from treating wealthy western nations.

This new technology will serve the world well for future disease outbreaks, and there will always be more.

They have started administering the vaccine at my local doctor's. Hope to get a call/letter before too long.

Cheers

I'm not holding my breath for vaccines reaching my small town in nowhere MS, but I heard an amusing joke on the subject I'd like to share.

In case the vaccine doesn't work maybe we shouldn't give it to healthcare workers first. If they get sick we're screwed. Instead give the first jabs to politicians. If they don't make it, it is no loss, and they will be easy to replace.

Solomon couldn't make a better judgment.

Apparently politicians, even those who have pushed the "Covid is a hoax" claim, are rushing to the front of the line to be vaccinated.

Not all...

I have been watching for VP elect Harris to get vaccinated, she has openly said that everybody "should" while declining to get jabbed herself at the same time as President elect Biden when they became available. One rationalization was to secure continuity of their administration in case of some adverse reaction to the vaccine (?).

[update- VP elect Harris got her covid jab today 12/29... thank you, late is better than never. /update]

AOC at her relatively tender age (30?), and low risk of death from COVID, got publicly jabbed, but this is probably a good thing to encourage her low information followers (she had a lot) to trust the vaccine.

A recent poll indicated that 63% of health care workers plan to get vaccinated. That means 37% are not fully on board with the science. I won't pretend to know what they are thinking, or speculate.

Dr Fauci keeps raising his estimate of the percentage of the population that needs to get vaccinated to insure herd immunity (currently up to 90%). I somehow doubt that number is being floated from some statistical basis, but more trying to sway public sentiment to win broad vaccine acceptance from the general public.

I have a doctor in the family who works the er.
They took it as did all the other doctors in their medical group.

Most in the group experienced typical reactions to getting a shot, discomfort at the point of entry, light swelling at point of entry and over all what one expects to happen when you get a shot.
A couple folks got sick for 24 hours with flu like symptoms but were feeling better after a day and have been fine.

It was said to me, that I should take it when available to the mass public.  While I will take the advice I won’t be first in line for it.

No worries there - assuming you're not part of phase 1, you'll be more than the two hundred millionth in line.

Phase Groups recommended to receive COVID-19 vaccine

1a Health care personnel and long-term care facility residents  24M

1b Frontline essential workers and persons aged ≥75 years  49M

1c Persons aged 65–74 years, or aged 16–64 years with high-risk medical conditions, and essential workers not recommended for vaccination in Phase 1b    129M

2 All persons aged ≥16 years not previously recommended for vaccination

Wheres the dividing line between public health and social engineering
Its always been hard to tell , now more than ever

Gottlieb(Godslove) , I couldnt determine if DrScott (Resigned Trump apointee as head of the FDA ),son of DrStanley was related to DrSidney , poisoner in chief back in the bad old days , wouldnt surprise me at all though.

Its a truely monsterous machine money has made ,now look at us

Properly done we are not supposed to tell... That's why the man behind the curtain stands behind a curtain. Dr Fauci got a little sloppy changing his talking points on the fly, not expecting to be called out on iit.

This is the double edged sword of the information highway, we have a wealth of information at our fingertips, the only thing lacking is judgement gained from experience.

My wife had it as one of the first in TN. She had a slight fever and dry mouth day 1 and sore muscles and joints for the next couple days.  Her CCU has been dealing with covid since it made it to the US and this is the only sign of relief. Things are bad; very bad.

Heard Cuomo is putting addicts as a priority for vaccinations....?

Not sure if it's true....

To get to herd immunity we're going to have to vaccinate a whole lot of people, especially those who are more likely to have other health problems and a living situation that makes diseases easy to spread. So yeah, vaccines won't be reserved for just those who "deserve" them.

I just read this but didnt get the chance to cross check the info yet ,

'And in Spain, where the death toll has topped 50,000, the health minister said the government would set up a registry of people who refuse to be vaccinated, and share it with other European Union member states.'
