HI  ;D
I have a newbie question , regarding tube design based audio preamplifier .
I need either 6,3V or 12,6Volt.... that I get.
now regarding the 250volt ... if derived from the main... it mean that it is fluctating with the main ?
does that can have a influence on sound quality ?
sorry fo that basic question , and thank you for your Tims guys !  :D :D

thanks
P

..and if you really NEED stable (and you very rarely do), just regulate.

Look at e.g. the G9 project powersupply for reference, that one is relatively cheap and easy - and has been proven by time..

By "derived from the mains", what do you mean exactly.
Your not thinking of rectifying directly off the mains;- or are you?

sometimes it is desirable to have a regulated supply for tube gear, the  Fairchild 670 has a very good regulator that holds the voltage to 0.01% or something crazy like that, and there is a pot in case you want to fine tune your voltage to  250 exactly,

but you need 4 tubes and some real estate, but you get to watch this funky gas regulator tube pop on and glow red which will scare the crap out of you the first time you see it. that is worth the price of admission right there. for more on tube regulators consult RDH4.
