that looks familiar

class A design... no schem to it though.. atleast I dont think so

pretty decent in the SSL comp

It still hurts me when you pick up that hacksaw
but the results, when successful, are worth it.

I'll just hide me eyes and make believe if was faulty anyway ...

so that leaves me kinda confused. The 202 has the 8 transistor core, that I think we see here. It also has a FET that I assume is the one by the trim pot, but what are the other 2 transistors? This needs some reversing. Why was this one such a step forward from the 202 series? I don't get it.

I get the modular VCA made from parallel SIP's thing, but not this.

I think some of the transistors are BC453 b and c.
The 8 thermally coupled are generic. I will have to test their gain.
There are a couple of J201's biased with 49.9 resistors.

What I can't figure out is why there is no opamp like NYD's links mentioned.

Nice work, CJ as usual!

I think the lack of OA is correct and something I almost posted on as well, though for a slightly different reason. I think the diagrams shown on the THAT site just show recommended applications so that we can see how the needed impedances changed about as the internals of the VCAs changed.

Here's how to confirm, I think...compare the pinouts shown on the THAT diagrams with this piece or other data sheets...note that the diagrams show pinout numbers all around the VCA, and then the numbers on the 5532 are just the standard 1, 2, 3.

Make sense?

Peace!

workin on it!
got a top secret x-former project going on right now.
meticulous analysis of three different transformers
which is my main priority right now.
