grounding shields to chasis

I have a chasis that is all separate parts that you put together.

I tested to see if the chasis is electrically continuous. It is NOT. One section isn't really connected to the other panels. This is probably because I painted the pieces separately.

I was wonder if grounding the shielding wire to a side of the chasis that isn't electrically continuous with the "earthed" side (by earthed I mean the earth connected to the 3 prong plug) is okay to do, or should they all be continously connected through the chasis.

BTW this is the LA2A project.
 
You could simply connect all parts to the power inlet ground tab. I think this will be the safest option.

And then also connect pin1 of your input XLR to this point.
