Is there a free download for drawing a tube circuit anywhere without a simulator attached? Resistors and cap smybols would be cool too.

Or if someone has a library of pdf symbols, that will work.

Thanks!

re: eagle - for resistors/caps use the RCL lib (included in standard install) for easy to find sizes (which can also be easily swapped to other packages if need be later on)

OK I have it downloaded. Cool.
Can I build a custom library? I do not need 35,000 symbols, just resistor, cap, transformer, inductor, triode, pentode, switch, and I am done.
how do I do that? cut and paste?
thanks!

oh yeah, which lyb are the tubes in?

See 'Adding New Parts to a Library' here:
http://myhome.spu.edu/bolding/EE4211/EagleTutorial4.htm

and another one: http://www.precma.it/informatica/EAGLE_faq_library.htm

To remove items from the lib - just take them out the lib dir...*

tubes....in the download section of the site: http://www.cadsoft.de/cgi-bin/download.pl?page=/home/cadsoft/html_public/download.htm.en&dir=pub/userfiles/libraries - search 'tubes'

* You can make your own dir's tho and move the .lbr's around in them - they'll list in the main eagle screen as nested folders so you can just select what you want from the lib and click 'add to schematic' - it will just jump straight to .sch with selected item...

There's also Orcad Lite. I've been using one version of Orcad or another for schematics for years now. It only comes with a couple of tube symbols, but Randall Aiken created an Orcad tube library that's available for download somewhere out there.

Darn, the instructions are not matching up with the program.
As soon as I highlight a device in the control panel to drag and
drop, , the new lib window disappears.

Tell you what, could one of you guys just slap together a library
and email it?

Just put in a cap symbol, a squggly line resistor symbol, an inductor, transformer, triode,
pentode and tube diode if you have one?
You guys could probably do that in ten seconds, as
opposed to all night for me?

Thanks Dave. Maybe i can find electronaut arounfd here.[/quote]

You got a copy of Visio, v. 2.0 or greater? If so, I've got some decent symbols I've been using for that for a while. Be glad to mail 'em out.

Peace,
Paul

CJ, here's those AI bits saved to version prior to 7 so you should be fine opening the file: http://notapplicable.co.uk/audiolab/Template.zip

Let us know if u want the eagle lib tho... :thumb:

Thanks!
It's working!
What's the diff between an ai. file and a pdf?

I can I add symbols to this library, and keep them as a LAb file so folks with pdf programs can use them.

The Eagle program will stay on the hard drive. Will figure it out when I have a few days.

Have the DBX 2001 apart. Got resistors, BC453C transistors, (weird, is dbx British?) J201 fets, and a 33 pf cap on the parts list. Will send diagrams.

Easy and it's free - will also interface with PCB software:

http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBHtm/Free_schematic_software.htm

Tube circuit custom components here:

http://home.pacifier.com/~gpimm/downloads.html

(Put these in the C:\Program Files\ExpressPCB\SchComponents_Custom\ directory)

.ai is adobe illustrator format, and .pdf is adobe acrobat format is the short answer  ... more deeper info about the in's n out's here: http://www.rdpslides.com/psfaq/FAQ00019.htm

Cool, its quite a tidy app and quick to work with once you got the basics sussed - tho I havn't much experience with anything else for pcb layout...

Groovy! Are those transistors still available or d'ya know some subs if need be?

Cheers :guinness:

Have not chased BC's yet.
More worried about the 4 matched pairs, 4 NPN,4PNP.
No markings.
Going to pull and check hfe, eb, Ic etc for a match.

Ron, I uploaded Express, have it running, extracted your lib to a seperate sub-dir in the express folder, but it won't show up in the custome lib window. I need to move your lib to a dir, but I don't know which one.
Thanks!

CJ,

Put the extracted files in this directory:

C:\Program Files\ExpressPCB\SchComponents_Custom\

Those templates are from another website I found. But I just created a couple of components myself. It's really easy to do, and you do it right inside the program - look under help.

Doh, you had it all set up to extract to the correct dir automatically, but I barfed it up because me be puter illeterate. Put it in the right one and I am off and running already. This program is friendly and similar to the SI Metrix simulator I have.
I have a 670 already mapped out!

Thanks again!

Here's a 5Y3GT and a power tranny I created:

http://home.earthlink.net/~cayocosta/5Y3GT.s

http://home.earthlink.net/~cayocosta/Transformer,%20CT,%206.3,%205.0.s

Put these in the same folder mentioned above.

You can also edit an existing component, then save it as a new one with the changes you've made.

Overall, pretty hip.
