I'm about to instal the internal wiring of G9's.
Since I've read a few times about hum getting picked up at the leads connecting the PCB to the 10 and 5 pin connectors, I've been wondering if it's a good idea to use balanced wire to connect all of these and then connect all the grounds of the different leads together to ground.
I assume this would give the best protection against noise and hum but, are there any leads what better could not be run together in the same cable (crosstalk or oscillation)?

The XLR and jack connection is screened balanced of course.

Cheers,

Tony.

Hi Tony,

There is no actual problem with hum from the pcb interconnects - at least the front pcb would pick up more noise than the cables. If you use toroid power transformers, there shouldn't be any problems.

If you get noise anyway, try turning the toroid transformers - stray electrostatic field is largest in the direction of the wires breaking out from the transformers.
