What do you think of this:

"The first thing I noticed was the lightning-quick dynamics, which are unlike anything I've heard, making drums and cymbals hit with eye blinking impact"

This guy has spent $140 on replacing caps and opamps in his Emu soundcard and claims to hear huge improvements.

Do you think this would really make such a massive difference?

I was thinking of buying an M-Audio stereo soundcard and replacing the caps and opamps to see how good it would sound. I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I need a soundcard anyway though.

I modded an Echo MIA with new opamps and better caps. sounds a bit better. the AKM converters stayed though. I run it in "purewave" mode... roughly meaning that the drivers and hardware handle the audio, not windows software. it makes running some programs tough because they only use the windows mixer in reality.

only you can judge if the time and money are worth it!
