Man, if it´s a VU, yes, it can be used anywere a VU is needed. 1176, LA2a, etc...

BUT, not in the SSL, I think. Maybe with a little mods.

I might need them to build a meterbridge for my console, it had RTW meters, but the control electronic is lost :sad:

I guess these are no real VU meters, but mA meters with a VU scale.
If you omit the VU setting of the G1176 you can use them without any change. For displaying VU you need something like that: http://sound.westhost.com/project55.htm

I don´t care about the size, the´re cheap.

I just wanted to know if someone found out or can find out if there is a need of change (a resistor e.g.) in the 1176 design.

I m not worry about the scale but about the specifications.

Do have all VU meters the same internal resistor ?

Do they all need the same driver circuits ?

Did you test it or do you suggest ?

The 1176 meter driver circuit can be adjusted in a wide range, so it's easy to make fit to different meters. I have used it with a few different meters.

But talking about mA meters, real VU meters have all the same internal resistor.
But these meters on Ebay ain't real VU meters.

I think that a standard "real VU" raw specs is something like 650uA fsd, used with a 3.6K resistor in series, and has internal selenium or germanium bridge rectifier.
