Hi,
I own a couple of DBX 160X's and I read about a modification to the unit involving swapping out the stock VCA with a THAT Corp VCA, and adding Jensen output transformers. Has anyone done this before? Would anyone know of the appropriate items to replace.
I think that the stock VCA is a DBX 1252(?), and I've read that a THAT 2150 would be a good replacement for that. I can't seem to find any information regarding the output transformers or suitable replacements.
Finally, would this be upgrade be worth it? I am hoping that it would give me a response that is a little more transparent and less dramatic compression artifacts, even at high compression rates.
Thank you very much for any information!
kind regards, Joel.
