1176 VU not working in GR mode

I have a client's purple audio MC77 that has an issue with the meter. The audio I/O metering works fine, but in GR mode, the meter is dead, will not go to zero and is not receiving any voltage.

Anyone seen this issue before and know what I might check for?

Check the meter switch first, then if that is good you will need to look at the meter driver circuit, which can be quite temperamental on these early 1176 circuits.
