just bought me a 16 channel mixer .
seems to be from the 80ies .
modular design built into a touring case ( which i removed/modified cause it was too big and heavy for my taste and i don't travel )
it's completely discreet ,penny giles faders, never have i seen so many doas in one place.
here's a quick shot

well , there's work to do :
some faders and pots are sticky ,
there's a slight L/R imbalance
and it's sensitive to physical movements/pushes .
soundwise it sounds very brite / brittle , kind of hissing and also seems to be lacking bass .
i need to investigate that further once another mixer restoration is finished.
but it's about 40-50 years old , so....

recapped 2 channels yesterday , just to see what i does and i'm blown away :
what a difference ,i suddenly can hear things , what a detail and stereo imaging , what a resolution , and not even yet recapped the masters.
( and i imagine to have some background on mixers to compare to)
it looks from the outside like a cheap old mixer that can go to the dumpsters but sounds like ... cannot even describe , words won't do it justice.
cheers
