Hi,
My boss gave me a few old mics he found while cleaning out his basement a few weeks ago. They are all pretty cool looking, which is nice, but I can't use them cause most have a four pin connection. If any of you know how to convert to three pins on any of these mics, your help would be greatly appreciated.

-Yaesu YD 148 Dynamic Microphone
-Shure SW-109
-Executone EXCC-P-02

The shure mic looks like half a telephone so I think it might actually be a carbon cartridge. It also has a switch (I think its a switch) which is used to enable the mic (once again, speculation). The executone looks like a ray gun from a bad 50's sci-fi movie, and the Yaesu is one of those mics you might see a secretary use to page someone. It has a variable ouput impedance of 600 or 50K ohms, which is interesting. Thanks.

Those old PTT (push-to-talk) paging/2-way radio mics probably ain't worth the trouble, but anyway...

Two of the pins will be for the mic, and two for the switch. It's easy enough to figure out which is which if you open up the mics. Then you simply replace the 4-pin connector with an XLR, with the mic outputs going to pins 2 and 3, and cable shield connected to pin 1.

yeah, I know they're probably pretty crappy, but that is sortof why I want to use them. Thanks for the info, I acutally opened up the shure and there was a wiring diagram inside... stupid me. It was actually a three conductor wiring to begin with and somebody decided to change it. I have one of the others opened up and I think I know whats going on. If they dont work, at least they'll make cool door stops. ha. thanks.
