50 ohm potentiometer?

engineers, how are you?  ;D
i would like to put a potentiometer instead of a switched gain control in a preamp i'm playing with.
the thing is that i would like to leave the feedback network around the amp as it is but for that i need a 50 ohm potentiometer or 100 at least..
is it possible to use say a 1k one, and do something with the law changing trick?

Why not just get a 50 Ohm pot? That's a standard value..

I can't find a cheap one searching in mouser or similar stores...they only have 2 or 5W type at about 10$
somebody knows where to get one for a euro or two like a 10k pot for example? 1/2W or a quarter..
