A $160 1073 eq...

Alctron has an MP73a and an EQ73a listed on eBay right now. The pre is $150 and the EQ is 160. I can't tell what's more impressive- how ugly it is, or how cheap it is  :-\

$540 retail over $100 bill-of-materials is a reasonable price for a fully-supported product made by a main-line manufacturer.

keep in mind that a "normal" chinese factory worker
get about 45-50 usd a month for work around 10 hours a day ,6 days a week,

might as well try it for 160 just to open it up.... Sound like the EQ only works with the pre like the original...

I would think that parts are not robust and pretty wide tolerances...

Probably not adequate where accurate critical and robust would be important...

Aliexpress prices for "branded" products are taken from space.
If there would be distribution in europe or us, then probably it will cost around 300$.
Lifelongmusic from uk sell alctron products (they are not so cheap).
If anyone is interested  i would contact them.

Late here!.... but I'm having issue with all that gear made in huge factories, and not only in China. I prefer to stick with yes more expensive but often way better made boutique gears.

I hear this a lot from people who have not worked directly with the Chinese. I agree these wages seem poor by our standards but you have to remember that vast parts of China are still populated largely by peasants.  The vast majority of female electronics workers come from very poor villages. $50/month is a lot of money to them and most get accommodation and food thrown in. This means they can send much needed money back to their village and also save for a dowry. When they return to their village to get married they are held in great regard. They do not feel exploited, rather they cannot believe their luck.

Now, if you really want to talk about exploitation, try the rag trade in India.
