Hello, newb question. I checked the meta threads but couldn't find one specific enough.

I'm interested in adding output transformers to an Auditronics 110B pre.

If it currently has unbalanced 1/4" outputs, what do I need to consider in choosing my parts and attaching the transformer?

Is it just a matter of picking a flavor and wiring it up? Or is there more to consider?

Thanks--

Liam

out on a limb here
no schematic in front of me

from memory the output is unbalanced BUT +4 dB with a bit of grunt
so a simple 1:1 line transformer should do the job.
more size may give a better low end when the termination is 600 or lower.

If the next input is easy then a budget unit like an OEP could be fine.

Liam,

Sorry for going off topic, but I also have a pair of auditronics 110B's waiting to get racked. Could you share some insight on how you did it?
(PSU, wiring, caveats...)

Besides that, I'm in the same boat and would like to add output transformers, so any further input on this is warmly welcome.

Cheers,

Michael

Hey Michael--

I wish I could help but I wasn't responsible for the piece in question.

Nor am I qualified to give advice on the subject of racking-- total newb here.

I was able to find the schematic by searching this forum though.

Just search for Auditronics and you'll find the thread.

Hi,
Did you guys end up getting these projects up and running?
I am asking the same question with relation to racking up a few modules, and adding a nice output transformer for each channel.
I have some kinda large 1:1 transformers here, but I think I need to keep it to the size of the normal console output (JENSEN) transformers, or smaller.
Any recommendations, much appreciated!
Evan

I believe that when these were used in the board there was a separate card with an output stage and a Jensen transformer (JE-123?).  The output stage had an IC op amp with two transistors following it for increased current capability.
